The Wii U might not have sold well, but for the 13.5 million of us that bought the console paired with that Fisher-Price iPad, I think it’s fair to say that at least a handful of us loved it. From Super Smash Bros., Super Mario 3D World, and Nintendoland, to Hyrule Warriors, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and soon The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the Wii U has had some amazing games. As the Wii U’s life comes to a close, what better way is there to look back at the beautiful but tragic life of the Wii U than to watch T2norway’s elegant and energetic 1-minute retrospective on every major game that ever came out on the system. The video syncs up with the high-tempo music to list every major game that came out on the system, including little animations accompanying some of the higher-tier games. For the really big games like the top-selling Mario Kart 8 or the highly-anticipated Breath of the Wild, or major changes to the console such as the addition of Amiibo or noting the smaller number of games in 2016, T2norway will comment on them in a short little stylized blip. You should absolutely check the video out, especially considering that, as is suggested by the title, it only takes a minute. You might have to watch it a few times to absorb it all, though because those words go by fast!
I asked T2norway some questions about how he made the video, his thoughts on the Wii U and its successor, the Switch, and what his YouTube channel is all about:
What was your process for making this video?
What were some of your favorite things about the Wii U?
What is this YouTube channel all about?
T2norway has a history of making videos with impressive editing and a love for Nintendo. You should also check out his “Nintendo Switch eShop UI Concept” video where he edits an astonishingly believable interface for the Nintendo Switch’s eShop. And if you like those videos, you should consider subscribing to the channel!
